Improv@Work

A dynamic team of around 70 from a tech startup converging in downtown Lubbock’s Cotton Court Hotel for a two‑day creativity clinic had retained our services for a longer than average engagement.
Teams were split into pods of 15–17, each guided by an exuberant instructor. Their hang-up? Creative burnout, communication bottlenecks, and hesitant cross-team collaboration.
We launched into physical warm-ups then dove into listening drills and cross‑team pivot games. After lunch, we unleashed ensemble improv fueled by local flavor: “design a Hutson basement coworking pitch” or “salvage a botched winery event rehearsal” inspired by Lubbock’s winemaking—and yes, there were art‑gallery mash‑ups. When surprise scene shifts hit mid‑flow, teams learned to think on their feet, pivot with grit, and co-create rapidly.
By the end of day two? Total transformation. Creativity crackled, communication flowed through walls, and teams walked away buzzing like Buddy Holly tunes on repeat. They left sharper, tighter, and recharged—ready to improvise brilliance back at the office.
We serve the greater Lubbock area, including Downtown Lubbock, Depot District, Texas Tech University area, Overton Park region, Runway Blvd corridor, North Slide Road, South University District, West Loop 289/Wolfforth stretch, Broadway District, Depot Arts Zone, Monterey Heights, Millet Park, Richmond Hills, Pecan Valley

Tons of convenience: 3,394 sq ft of meeting space, with the big Venetian ballroom hitting nearly 2,000 sq ft and boardrooms for more targeted gatherings. A/V and catering services are solid, and each event has a dedicated Meetings Manager to handle details. Ideal for corporate retreats or off‑site executive sessions—team-ready, polished, and trusting. And for after-hours? A lobby lounge that transitions into meaningful connection time.
A Sample Improv Exercise!
Human Knot
AKA: The mixed-up scramble that becomes your team’s unlocking moment.
Players jam into a tight circle—hands in! Then randomly grab two other hands (not adjacent). The challenge? Untangle yourselves without letting go—talking is encouraged, but no letting go! Sometimes you’ll create smaller circles within the knot, or a leg-lifted tangle that looks more like interpretive dance.
Here’s why it’s magic: it forces physical connection, collaboration, and strategic thinking all at once. Teams lean in, negotiate tension, shift shapes—while laughing at the absurdity of grown-ups attempting a human pretzel. By the time everyone’s upright and untwisted, group trust hums, communication sharpens, and creative collaboration gets supercharged.
Perfect as a kickoff before ideation blocks, pitch rehearsals, or creative breakout sessions. It physically reminds teams: even messy, tangled problems can be solved when everyone pulls and pivots together.
