Improv@Work

A rapidly scaling aerospace engineering firm in Huntsville, the Rocket City itself, retained RA wanting to blast through team silos and turbocharge communication, collaboration, and leadership.
Group size: 35 sharp innovators, so we rolled deep with two instructors bringing the fun and craft.
Workshop focus: Rocket-boosting soft skills—agility, creativity, listening, and leadership—delivered with humor and heart.
Challenge: These engineers were great solo pilots, but they wanted to fly formation like the Blue Angels. Stiff communication and siloed departments? Not on this watch.
How it went down:
Warm-up: Your stellar “Fingertips” exercise—pairs navigating blindfolded fingertip journeys through obstacle courses, perfect for building trust, focus, and laughter.
Scene play: Improvised scenes inspired by space tech and teamwork, weaving creativity with collaboration.
Leadership Labs: Players took turns leading and following, strengthening empathy and agile leadership muscles.
Debrief: “What did trusting your partner’s fingertips teach us about communication and adaptability?” Team vibes soared and connections solidified.
The workshop wrapped with astronauts (aka participants) beaming with connection, confidence, and ready to launch collaboration into orbit.

A Sample Improv Exercise!
“Fingertips” Exercise — Your Ultimate Trust & Tickle Fest
Here’s the magic: Pair up! One player closes their eyes, the other becomes a gentle navigator—guiding their partner by fingertips only. The twist? You’ve got obstacles—chairs, tables, maybe even that mysteriously placed potted plant—to sneak around, crawl under, or vault over. It’s part trust exercise, part physical comedy, all heart.
You’ll laugh, you’ll stumble, maybe you’ll accidentally tickle your partner (bonus points!). The key is connection—feeling your partner’s cues through the tiniest touch, building trust faster than a rocket launch countdown. This game is perfect to kick off an improv session, loosen everyone up, and remind your team that sometimes the smallest touch carries the biggest message.
